ONE DAY IN CHANTILLY

First, we always think about Versailles. Why is Chantilly still so unknown? Situated about an hour by car from Paris, it is actually an enchanted area to spend one day.

Domaine de ChantillyReal peace of heaven, you are invited to visit the castle, the gardens and its different universes (the English gardens, French-style parterres by André Le Notre, the woods,…), the great stables, the Horse Museum and also see live equestrian shows under a sumptuous dome. One of the finest jewels in the crown of France’s cultural heritage, it is also the work of a man with an extraordinary destiny: Henri d’Orléans, Duke of Aumale, fifth son of Queen Marie-Amélie and King Louis-Philippe, the last King of France. Thanks to the precautions taken by the Duke of Aumale in his will, Chantilly remains, more than a century later, a showcase of preserved works where the charm of the 19th century continues to reign.

For your information, the visit of the private apartments has to be pre-booked.

Electric cars are available at the entrance of the park.

Do not miss the restaurant of le Jeu de Paume hotel (Relais et Chateaux) and its lovely patio.
